Mortgage Scam Lawyer Ejected From Legal Profession

An attorney who pleaded guilty last year for his participation in a scam involving almost 60 homeowners and $33 million in mortgages has been banned from practicing law. So reports Westfair Online.

Anthony Vigna is disqualified to be a lawyer due to his conviction for conspiracy to commit mail, wire and bank fraud, a five-judge New York appellate panel recently ruled.

Vigna was in-house counsel for Terra Foundation, an organization that was not really tax-exempt. Terra targeted financially troubled homeowners with bogus offers to eliminate their debts. Vigna is scheduled for release on July 16 after being sentenced last July to a year and a day in prison.
