'Skillful Conman' Gets 12 Years for $7.6M Mortgage Scam

A man was sentenced to more than 12 1/2 years in federal prison for defrauding more than 2,000 homeowners to the tune of $7.6 million, according to authorities. So reports the Associated Press.

prison icon 2071965 640 smallU.S. District Judge Dale S. Fischer said Patrick Soria of West Hollywood, Calif., was “a skillful conman who created a very sophisticated scheme,” per a statement from the U.S. attorney’s office.

“This is not the largest case I have presided over in terms of dollars, but it is the most brazen and heartless,” Fischer said of the mortgage fraud scheme.
