Rent-to-Own Startup Landis Wins Funding From Jay-Z, Will Smith

Landis, a fintech startup that aims to help renters become homeowners, has received some star-studded backing. So reports Finextra.

LandisWhile the company’s recent round of $165 million in debt and Series A equity funding was led by Sequoia Capital, Jay Z’s Roc Nation investment arm Arrive, and Will Smith’s Dreamer VC, also participated, along with existing investor Signia Venture Partners.

Landis uses its technology to find customers who might qualify for a mortgage in 12 to 14 months, then buys a property for them, with the goal that the customers will eventually buy the home back.
