Real Estate Firm Owner Who ‘Targeted Vulnerable’ is Convicted

A Massachusetts real estate broker and owner of his own company, Eastern Funding & Investment, has been found guilty on multiple counts of larceny. So reports the Attleboro, Mass. Sun Chronicle.

The illegal scheme led homeowners facing foreclosure to make payments to EFI rather than their actual mortgage lender.

Kevin Taing, 53, of Lowell, Mass., has received a sentence of three years in state prison and seven years probation, and ordered to pay restitution of $580,710. He is also banned from working as a fiduciary or realtor.

“Taing deliberately targeted vulnerable individuals who were facing foreclosure and struggling to find help,” said Maura Healey, Massachusetts Attorney General.
