Nine Arrested, Indicted in Alleged $6M Mortgage Scam

California state authorities have announced the arrests and indictments of nine people in an alleged mortgage scheme that led to a loss of about $6 million. So reports KTXL in Sacramento.

State attorney general Xavier Becerra said the defendants faced 136 felony counts for “allegedly operating an advance fee mortgage relief scam that claimed to prevent the foreclosure of properties throughout Southern California.”

Each of the defendants, who were accused of preying on distressed homeowners, entered not-guilty pleas.
