Housing Officials Warn of Widening Affordability Issues

Concerns about affordable housing were the leading theme in remarks by policymakers from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Housing Finance Agency and Freddie Mac at the MBA CREF 23 Conference and Expo. So reports GlobeSt.com.

HUDJulia Gordon, HUD’s Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner, noted that supply and affordability challenges go beyond the lowest income groups: “We have seen the news that about half of the renters in this country have rents that are now unaffordable.”

Gordon also said that HUD plans to take action soon on large loan limits.
