Police Nab Accused Mortgage Scammer Who Posed as Rapper

Police have arrested a man who is accused of using the name of a famous Chicago rapper for more than a year in a scheme that involved pretending to pay people’s mortgage bills. So reports CBS Chicago.

jail 1287943 1280The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Demarco Franklin, allegedly scammed people out of money by feigning an affiliation with Chance the Rapper and the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County.

Franklin faces charges of felony wire fraud, two felony counts of theft by deception and a misdemeanor count of falsely impersonating a charity.
