Man Uses Rapper’s Name as Bait in Alleged Mortgage Scheme

A Chicago man has allegedly been using the name of local hip-hop hero Chance the Rapper for a scheme that involves pretending to pay people’s mortgage bills and then swindling them into making donations. So reports CBS Chicago.

thumb down 1426814 640 150x150Ibi and Lulu Cole, two sisters who are businesswomen in the financial sector, told CBS that the man falsely claimed he was working with a community program associated with the famously philanthropic rapper, and their banking communications indicated the mortgage payments had gone through.

The unknown man, who called himself Jeffrey Washington, has been running a similar scam since 2014 but only started using Chance’s name in 2018, police sources claimed.
