Unemployment Dips But Jobs Total Still Way Down Post-Pandemic

The Department of Labor has announced that the unemployment rate dropped one percentage point to 6.9% in October, though the U.S. economy still has 10.1 million fewer jobs than when the coronavirus hit in March. So reports the Associated Press.

The nation added 638,000 jobs last month, a pace the Associated Press describes as “solid,” especially when accounting for the loss of about 150,000 temporary Census jobs.

The uptick indicated that a halting economic rebound was underway, although the surging pandemic could put those gains at risk.
