Fannie Mae Taps Ex-FDIC Boss Sheila Bair for Board Chair

Fannie Mae has named Sheila Bair, the former head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, as the chair of the mortgage giant’s board of directors.

!--more-->As Asset Securitization Report notes, Bair led the FDIC during the 2008 financial crisis and has long pushed for bringing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac out of government conservatorship.

Bair succeeds Jonathan Plutzik, who will remain on the Fannie Mae board.
