Mortgage Rates Drift Near Historic Lows Ahead of Election

U.S. long-term mortgage rates didn’t change much in the week before the U.S. presidential election, hovering close to an all-time low set a week earlier. So reports the Associated Press.

!--more-->According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rate averaged 2.81% in the week ending October 29, up one basis point from its new all-time low and down from 3.78% a year earlier.

The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage rate averaged 2.32%, down one basis point from the prior week.
