FHFA Widens Use of COVID-19 Payment Deferrals

The Federal Housing Finance Agency has declared that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will make its expanded COVID-19 payment deferrals available to all borrowers facing financial hardship. So reports DSNews.

FHFA2Distressed homeowners will be able to defer up to six months of mortgage payments, according to the FHFA.

“Based on the success of the COVID-19 payment deferral, we are making this solution a key part of our standard loss mitigation toolkit that is available to all borrowers with eligible hardships," FHFA director Sandra Thompson said in a statement.
