Big Landlords Spy Jackpot in Single-Family Rentals

Rental companies that formed during the 2008 financial crisis are bracing for a bonanza as homeowners fall behind on their mortgage payments. So reports The Wall Street Journal.

The two largest single-family home rental companies, American Homes 4 Rent and Invitation Homes, have seen their share prices handily outpace the benchmark S&P 500 index since the stock market hit bottom in March.

Ivy Zelman, CEO of real-estate consultant Zelman & Associates, told the Journal that many Americans who are “house-rich but cash-poor” could be forced to sell and become renters.
