CFPB Eases HMDA 'Burden' in Final Rule

The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has issued a final rule under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, extending for two years the current temporary threshold for collecting and reporting data about open-end lines of credit. So reports Reverse Mortgage Daily.

The rule loosens the data reporting requirements for small lenders and will help reduce their regulatory “burden,” the CFPB said.

The CFPB proposed the move in May, when its director, Kathleen Kraninger, said, “[The] proposed changes would provide much needed relief to smaller community banks and credit unions while still providing federal regulators and other stakeholders with the information we need under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act.”
