Remote Mortgage Originations Here to Stay in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania has made permanent an emergency order issued by Governor Tom Wolf during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic that allows brokers to originate mortgages remotely. So reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

pennsylvania g54f28c4be 640The bill that Wolf has now signed into law does away with a mandate for brokers to work out of a licensed location that buyers must go to during the process.

State Rep. Rob Mercuri, the bill’s Republican sponsor, told the newspaper, “This will allow for remote mortgage origination to continue and allow Pennsylvania’s mortgage brokers to continue working as they are now, whether remotely or in a licensed location.”
