Federal officials have unveiled a prison sentence of more than seven years for a Bay Area rapper who took part in a $2 million mortgage fraud scheme. So reports CBS News.
Mark “Kafani” Hicks was sentenced to 82 months in prison as part of a plea deal that saw the former rising local hip-hop star convicted of aggravated identity theft, bank fraud and wire fraud, according to Northern District of California U.S. Attorney Stephanie Hinds’ office.
The 42-year-old admitted to orchestrating a conspiracy that stole from banks and lending institutions not long after he got out of prison five years ago.
