OneMain Financial Fined $4.25M Over Cybersecurity Incidents

OneMain Financial Group has agreed to pay a $4.25 million penalty to New York state to settle allegations the non-prime mortgage lender and servicer failed to adequately protect customer data. So reports SC Media.

Onemain FinancialNew York Superintendent of Financial Services Adrienne Harris said that the state’s Department of Financial Services uncovered the alleged violations in a routine audit.

DFS cited at least three cybersecurity incidents affecting OneMain Financial between 2018 and 2020.
