Mob Associate Gets Four Years for Real Estate Scam

A man associated with the Philadelphia mob has been sentenced to four years and one month in prison for his part in a scam that included stealing would-be homebuyers’ down payments, according to federal authorities. So reports the Philly Voice.

Scam road sign 464653 1920Stephen Sharkey of New Jersey pleaded guilty in September 2020 to engaging in two fraudulent mortgage-closing schemes.

Sharkey was also sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay $296,000 restitution.
