Fannie Mae Trims Origination Forecast Due to Supply Pinch

Fannie Mae has modestly reduced its outlook for 2021 mortgage originations because of a lack of homes available for sale. That’s according to a new report from the mortgage giant.

Fannie Mae2 e1615570153127 150x150Fannie Mae said it now projects mortgage volume this year will total $4.3 trillion, down from $4.4 trillion.

The commentary from Fannie Mae’s Economic and Strategic Research Group added that “our forecast of 2022 originations remained unchanged at $3.3 trillion.”
