Supreme Court to Determine if FHFA is Constitutional

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a pair of cases challenging the structure of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. So report SCOTUSblog and Reuters.

An appeal by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac shareholders takes aim at whether the FHFA’s structure is constitutional, on the heels of the Supreme Court’s ruling in a similar question involving the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The high court will also review an appeal by the Trump administration in a wider dispute between the shareholders and the FHFA over the agency’s 2012 financing deal with the Treasury Department.
