Movement Mortgage Settles Fair Housing Allegations

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that Movement Mortgage has settled allegations it violated the Fair Housing Act with racially discriminatory lending practices.

Movement mortgageAccording to HUD, Movement Mortgage has agreed to pay $65,000 to the National Community Reinvestment Coalition and another $10,000 to a Seattle-area nonprofit that focuses on financial literacy and housing and education.

“This agreement reflects HUD’s commitment to ensuring that everyone has equal access to credit regardless of their race or national origin," Demetria McCain, HUD’s principal deputy assistant secretary for fair housing and equal opportunity, said in a statement.
