Mortgage Rates Leap to Highest So Far This Year

U.S. long-term mortgage rates have climbed to a year-to-date peak. So reports CNN.

arrows 311332 640 smallAccording to Freddie Mac, the average on the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was 6.81% in the week ending July 6, up from 6.71% the week before and 5.30% a year earlier.

Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s chief economist, pointed to “a resilient economy, persistent inflation and a more hawkish tone from the Federal Reserve.”
