Mortgage Rates Hit Highest Since 2008

Mortgage rates have hit their highest level in almost 14 years, according to weekly data from Freddie Mac. So reports the Mortgage Research Center.

Freddie MacThe 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.81% in the week ending June 23, up from 5.78% the prior week.

Freddie Mac economist Sam Khater noted that “many potential homebuyers are still interested in purchasing a home, keeping the market competitive but leveling off the last two years of red-hot activity.”
