Mortgage Rates Edge Down to 14th Record Low of 2020

Freddie Mac’s weekly mortgage rate averages have hit their 14th all-time low since the pandemic struck this spring. So reports MarketWatch.

According to the mortgage-finance giant, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 2.71% for the week ending December 3, compared with 2.72% the previous week.

The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 2.26%, down from 2.28%.

Zillow economist Matthew Speakman noted that mortgage rates, unusually, were moving counter to Treasury yields, which climbed amid stimulus hopes.
