According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 7.12% as of September 7, down six basis points from the week before—the second straight weekly decline.
Freddie Mac economist Sam Khater cited upward pressure from solid economic data despite slowing inflation. “For the fourth consecutive week, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage hovered above 7%,” Khater said in a statement,
