In the first four months of 2023, global mortgage-backed securities issuance fell to its lowest level in 23 years. So reports Reuters.

Data from Refinitiv showed $100 billion in global MBS issuance from January to April, a post-2000 low.

Analysts said that the drop in MBS issuance could choke off financing for home buyers and property developers.
