Waters, the Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, cited an email from an appraiser that used racial slurs for Black people and suggested lenders will refuse to serve people of color.
“Some may say that the words of one appraiser do not reflect or represent the profession,” Waters said in a press release. “However, years of data, ongoing research, and numerous settled lawsuits provide ample evidence to the contrary.”
