Fed Holds Rates Steady, Signals Pause for 2020

The Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged at its December meeting and indicated no plans to cut them further in the year ahead. So reports CBS News.

The pause comes after the Fed cut its target rate three times in 2019—to between 1.5% and 1.75%—after four rate hikes last year.

A majority of the central bank’s policy makers projected no change in rates in 2020, although some forecast a rise of 25 basis points.
