Fannie, Freddie Privatization Looks Tricky Post-Pandemic

The impact of the coronavirus on the mortgage market has added fresh difficulties to the Trump administration’s plan of releasing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from federal sway. So reports Bloomberg.

!--more-->The government-sponsored enterprises may have to stockpile cash to cover the risk of bad home loans, feel damage from delayed mortgage payments and suffer low profitability thanks to an uncertain housing market.

Shares in Fannie and Freddie have slid more than 30% since late February amid investor worries about COVID-19.
