CFPB Warns Mortgage Comparison-Shopping Sites

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has put digital mortgage comparison-shopping platforms on notice about double dealing laws. So reports Financial Regulation News.

CFPB 150x150“We are working to ensure that online platforms are not manipulating their search results in order to coerce kickbacks from lenders," CFPB Director Rohit Chopra said in a statement.

According to the regulator, kickbacks and pay-to-play schemes by lending information providers run afoul of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.
