Can Remote Work Ease the Affordability Crunch?

Flexible working arrangements have remained popular long after the onset of the COVID pandemic, which could help reduce affordability pressures around homebuying. So reports Fannie Mae’s Perspectives blog.

Fannie Mae2 280x186According to a new Fannie Mae survey, 35% of homeowners and renters continued to work hybrid or fully remote jobs in the first quarter of 2023, down only one percentage point from the third quarter of 2021.

Affordability topped respondents’ lists of top priorities when choosing their next home, reflecting the past few years’ surge in mortgage rates, home prices and rents.
