BB&T-SunTrust Merger Wins U.S. Antitrust Approval

U.S. antitrust authorities gave their blessing to a merger between BB&T and SunTrust Banks, the Justice Department has announced. So reports CNBC.

The regulator said that the deal’s approval was contingent upon the banks divesting 28 branches in three states.

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation must still sign off on the merger.
