VA Refunds $400M in Mortgage Fees

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has refunded more than $400 million to veterans who may have overpaid on their VA home loans. So reports the Military Times.

The refunds followed an internal review of more than 130,000 cases, which found mostly clerical errors related to veterans whose disability rating changed after their loans closed, the agency said.

When applying for a VA home loan, disabled veterans are exempt from the fee, which ranges from 0.5% to 3.3% of the total loan value.
