Ex-Realtor Gets Four Years in Jail for $4M Mortgage Scam

A former realtor has received a four-year prison sentence for orchestrating a mortgage scam that bilked distressed homeowners out of almost $4 million. So reports The San Gabriel Valley (Calif.) Tribune.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that 66-year-old Ernesto Diaz of El Monte, Calif. was also ordered to pay more than $3 million in restitution.

In September, Diaz was found guilty on federal charges of conspiracy and mail fraud.
