17 Arrested Over $3.6M Real Estate Fraud Scheme

Montreal police have arrested 17 people on charges involving a real estate fraud ring that allegedly pilfered more than $5 million CAD ($3.6 million). So reports The Montreal Gazette.

fraud 2695269 640smallAccording to Montreal police, the alleged fraud ring centered around five mortgage-free properties, including one listed at $2.6 million in a real estate advertisement.

Police accuse the suspects of falsifying identification documents to pose as the properties’ owners in a bid to gain power of attorney over the properties.
