Supreme Court Empowers President to Fire CFPB Head

The Supreme Court has struck down limits that Congress placed on the President’s ability to remove the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. So reports NBC News.

!--more-->“The agency may …continue to operate, but its Director, in light of our decision, must be removable by the President at will,” Chief Justice John Roberts ruled, writing for the majority in a 5-4 decision.

Justice Elena Kagan, in a dissenting opinion, called the majority’s view oversimplified.
