Home Prices Keep Rising Despite Pandemic, Unemployment

An economy wracked by the coronavirus pandemic and the highest employment since the Great Depression has not yet led to bargains in the housing market. So reports Realtor.com.

Median home prices for the week ending May 23 were up 3.1% from the same period a year ago, according to Realtor.com data.

Realtor.com senior economist George Ratiu said that buyers were willing to pay higher prices due to “the very limited number of properties available.” Listings were down 22% year-over-year for the week.
