Fed’s Bullock: No Rate Cut Unless Coronavirus Becomes Pandemic

For interest rate cuts to happen, the outbreak of the covid-19 coronavirus would have to become a pandemic, said James Bullard, St. Louis Federal Reserve President. So reports CNBC.

“Further policy rate cuts are a possibility if a global pandemic actually develops with health effects approaching the scale of ordinary influenza, but this is not the baseline case at this time,” Bullard said in a statement.

Markets have been pricing in four rate cuts in 2020 amid coronavirus fears.
