The jury convicted Lorin Kal Buckner, 66, of Hamilton, and Dessalines Sealy, 59, of Brooklyn, New York. Two other members of the group pleaded guilty during the trial, and nine defendants still face charges.
The scheme, which offered to help distressed homeowners keep their homes in exchange for a fee, preyed on “vulnerable, financially-distressed and desperate homeowners,” prosecutors said.
