According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.5% in the week ending February 23, compared with 6.32% the prior week and 3.89% a year earlier.
Rates have risen about 0.5% in a month after declining from a recent high of 7.08% in November.
