Loan-Modification Scam Spawns $4.5M Consent Order

Florida businesses that allegedly targeted Hispanics in violation of the Fair Housing Act have agreed to pay $4.5 million in a consent order, according to the Department of Justice. So reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Authorities claimed that in Spanish-language ads, the businesses falsely vowed to slash mortgage payments in half.
