According to the Department of Labor’s weekly report, first-time jobless claims dipped to 406,00 for the week ending May 22, down from 444,000 a week earlier and below the 425,000 consensus estimate.
The pre-pandemic weekly pace of new jobless claims was slightly more than 200,000.
