U.S. District Court Judge Catherine Blake denied the companies’ motion to dismiss the lawsuit, filed in June 2018 by two Baltimore residents and the National Fair Housing Alliance.
In an opinion, Blake wrote that the claims were substantial enough to proceed and were “not minor, temporary or localized.”
Ohio-based Safeguard agreed to pay $167,000 in 2015 to settle the Maryland attorney general’s claims that the field services provider had inadequate training policies.
