Judge Shoots Down CDC’s Eviction Moratorium

Landlords have scored a victory after a federal judge overturned a pandemic eviction moratorium put in place by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. So reports CNN.

CDCIn a sweeping ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Dabney Friedrich wrote that the Public Health Service Act, which establishes the government’s quarantine authority, does not grant the CDC the power to impose a nationwide moratorium on evictions.

The Justice Department has appealed and what happens next is unclear.
