A mortgage broker and a housing developer have each pleaded guilty to conspiring to deceive banks that ended up losing $5 million as a result of a condo-conversion scheme. So reports the Tampa Bay Times.
Jonathan Marmol and developer Mordechai Boaziz, both of South Florida, each face a maximum penalty of five years in prison on the charges, filed in federal court.
Marmol’s sentencing is set for Feb. 7, 2020. Another man, Alejandro Tobon, was previously sentenced to 37 months in prison in the case.
